VR rehabilitation in Bengaluru
VR rehabilitation in Bengaluru
VR rehabilitation uses virtual reality to turn your physiotherapy exercises into guided tasks you can see and respond to. It is our main speciality, and it is always led by a physiotherapist.
What is VR rehabilitation?
VR rehabilitation is physiotherapy where some of your exercises are done as guided tasks in virtual reality, such as reaching for targets or holding your balance. At Physio Zone in Bengaluru, a physiotherapist sets the level for you, stays with you through the session and keeps track of your progress from week to week.
How does VR rehabilitation work?
You wear a VR headset and see a simple virtual scene. The exercises your physiotherapist chooses for you become tasks inside it: reaching for objects, stepping to targets, turning your head to follow something, or holding your balance while the scene moves. You are doing the same movements you would do in regular physiotherapy, with something to aim for.
Why use VR in physiotherapy?
- Exercise feels more like an activity, which makes it easier to keep going, especially for long rehab programmes and for children
- Your physiotherapist can make each task easier or harder in small steps, so the level suits you on the day
- The system can record things like repetitions, range of movement and time taken, so you and your physiotherapist can see changes from one session to the next
- You get instant feedback on each movement, which helps you correct it straight away
Who can VR rehabilitation help?
- Stroke and other neurological conditions, such as Parkinson’s disease and spinal cord injury
- Balance problems and fall prevention, especially in older adults
- Recovery after surgery, fractures and joint replacement
- Orthopedic problems such as shoulder, knee and back pain
- Sports injuries and getting back to training
- Children who need therapy that holds their attention
What happens in a VR session?
- We start with an assessment and agree on goals, for example walking without support or lifting your arm overhead
- Your physiotherapist sets up the VR exercises for your level and explains each one before you start
- You do the exercises with the physiotherapist beside you the whole time, with rests whenever you need them
- VR is combined with hands-on treatment and regular exercises as needed
- We look at your progress together and give you exercises for home
Is it right for me?
Most people can try it, but it isn’t suitable for everyone. Tell us if you have epilepsy, get motion sickness easily, or have problems with your eyes or severe dizziness. We’ll decide together whether VR suits you or whether another approach is better. VR adds to physiotherapy; it doesn’t replace the assessment, hands-on care and advice you get from your physiotherapist.
How much does a VR session cost?
Please ask us about the fee for a VR rehabilitation session when you book. We’ll confirm it before your first session.
